many companies usually run by the local Jewish elites hence you see a huge difference of the capital city comparing to others.. very soon Baku is going to turn to the second Dubai but more attractive, beautiful and unique looking city.. by the way, I lived there for six years

Many criticisms can be levied at Russia, but this is not a fair one.
Never compare oil or tax heaven economies with regular economies.

I know an important part of Russian economy is dependent on oil and gas, nonetheless, Russia is not an oil economy.

The old city of Baku was built with oil money 100 years ago, so it's pretty nice.
The new parts are controversial. It's post soviet oil rich republic style architecture, much like Kazakhstan. It doesn't do anything for me.
