Default Does anyone hiking/trekking in the wilderness?

    Where have you been?

Longest distance so far (trail: km/ml and days)?

What you mostly use (your gear)? How you sleep, what kind of cooker, backpack with metal supporting structure or not etc.?

In which seasons (summer/warm, autumn & spring/cold, winter/snowly and very cold)?

Some of my own gear (part 1)

    1.) Tent
    Tarptent Double Rainbow.

    https://www.tarptent.com/product/double-rainbow/

Extremely light tent for its size. Only 1,2kg! It is actually small two persons tent (there is smaller single version available), but differences in those weights are very small. Plus double version has doors on both sides plus as hiking alone ... I can easily take backpack inside ... whole absid stays free (cooking at rainy days etc.). So my choice was dual version.

For sure it is not Hilleberg (being much cheaper too) and I would not go very windy conditions with it, but it suits me perfectly.

Bit weird thing ... I could't find it anywhere here (Finland) ... so I purchased it from USA (via internet).

    2.) Sleeping bag.
My dream sleeping bag would be goose down sleeping bag. Both warm and light. 2 different ones for different temperatures. Still no money for those.

    So what I have...
US Modular sleeping bag - Patrol bag (weight 1kg). Suits for summer use.

US Modular sleeping bag - Intermediate bag (weight 2kg). Suits for bit colder nights.

The best thing .... those can used together (nested) ... being already warm enough for cold winter nights ... never tested. Very flexible system, depending of the weather and season ... I carry 1kg, 2kg or 3kg (if both).

As girls always needs something special .... I also have this. Silk sleeping bag liner. Weights just 128g. It cost 55euros, but luxury tends to cost.

    3.) Air bed outdoor
Light one. Weights only 450g. Cost (as new) 59euros.
    https://www.vaeltajankauppa.fi/epage...Products/50672

    4.) Backpack
    Old Fjällräven Kajka 75l

    5.) My cooking system.
My old Swedish army cooker. I nick named it as poor men's Trangia. LOL.

It weights same as Trangia 27, but needs bit smaller space. For sure it is much better than any cheap thin material Asian Trangia copies.
And it is much cheaper (20eur) vs real Trangia 27 (50eur). Plus I even have similar (shape & size) steel version of that pack. That can be used safely in real camp fire (opposite to any aluminum products). Just weight much more... of course.

I actually like it at least as much as Trangia (no doubt for 2 persons Trangia 27 is better and for 3 even more bigger Trangia 25.

Something to add to cooking part.

Trangia types cookers have been very popular in all Scandinavia (and probable many other places in Europe). The best of it is that it is idiot-proof system ... as long as you have alcohol and you can make fire. One of my reasons I use that Swedish army cooker. I trust on it!

BUT ... and there are always ''but'' ...

    Some people are complaining
1.) it is heavy system to carry (yes there are lighter systems)
2.) it is not fast cooker (yes there are faster system)

    Gas burners.

Many fashionable hikers have used those years now ... and I will test that next summer.

I bought this burner (very tiny) ... just 45g !

The selling price of that was only 25euros.

Then we need gas patrol. There are two sides: 230g and 450g. 230g is enough for couple of days trips, but 450g will not costs much more.

These costs 5euros to 8euros based on where one buys them. Of course use of alcohol fuel in those alcohol burners costs even clearly less.

    And last the pots

    2 pots sets (0,9l and 0,5l). Weight 240g. Price 20euros.

    So totally my gas burner system costs me: 25euros + 5euros + 20euros = 50euros.
    And weight 45g + 230g + 240g = 515g

My Swedish army cooker weights easily 2 times/double and then alcohol/fuel is included ... almost 3 time more.

... so there was still room for small luxury? Like this one

    156g and 12,90eur. Now total 671g and price 62,90eur.

If I will use that ... I will safe about 1kg weight. The gas burner's max. power (kW) is much higher (= much faster) than alcohol burners (cooking time/boiling water etc.). Plus one can control the power on it. Being fast is a benefit in bad weather or if there are lots mosquitos etc.
Two negative sides are that it won't work in colder conditions and burner is open at harder wind (might need one kind of cover).
Still personally I'm most worried that the burner will simply break someway (won't work). It is not same way idiotic proof system as my trusted alcohol burner.

Anyway next summer I'm gonna test that too :thumbup.

The most I've ever walked in a single day is from Clendon to Pakuranga.
