A new cinema located on a docked boat in Holešovice Port is currently screening a selection of independent films as well as hosting special film-themed events such as live concerts.

The project of Slovak cinema enthusiast Jakub Kováč, Kinoloď, a reconstructed transshipment vessel, which was built in 1925, formerly housed a church. Kováč installed a screen and launched what he has since dubbed “a Czech-Slovak film cruise” back in March.

Fans of Bio Oko or Kino Aero will appreciate the Kinoloď lineup which also intends to focus largely on independent Czech and Slovak indies and student films, as well as introducing lesser-known Slovak bands, to Prague audiences.

Summer cinema lovers will be pleased to note that Prague’s new movie theater on the water will also be offering open-air screenings during the warmer months. Family-friendly “baby-bio” screenings with kid’s corner are also on the program.

The cinema boasts a tilting screen, behind which is a fully equipped stage with top sound and several kinds of lights.
