Majority of Macedonian municipalities voted for Siljanovska. Albanians swung the election on orders from Ali Ahmeti.

Do you mean any specific ethnicity or both?

Going by internet opinion I think many Albanians were disappointed in the biggest Albanian party choosing to side with a Macedonian as a president over an Albanian. And therefore many chose to boycott out of frustration. From the Macedonian side I think the orders from the leadership were mixed or something, with some people saying they should boycott and hope the voters would not reach 40% of total so it would not be legitimate, and others saying they had to vote to avoid the SDSM president. That probably lead to a lot of Macedonians just deciding to screw the whole thing and take the passive approach of boycotting.

Also it's odd to see through the internet so many Albanians supporting Pendarovski, I even saw Macedonians support Blerim Reka. I think I've underestimated how integrated certain parts of the country are.

Regardless Albanian or Macedonian, Pendarovski and the Pro-EU and Pro-NATO path was the only way to go. I don't think anyone in the country has to energy to seriously push against the west, and definitely not to disrupt the Macedonia-Greece agreement.

VroMeRO boycotts the Presidential election too? Maybe the people boycott the VroMeRO because they finally realized they are too stupid for their own sake. You'll get stuck with the Albanians, mate!

Macedonians who disagreed with the name change boycotted the election. They believe both sides are traitors. VMRO, and in this instance, Siljanovska, also being controlled by foreigners who want to erase our identity.

Albanians supporting the left wing Pendarovski is no surprise. Why would they not support the Socialists who are giving them anything they desire? They can now team up with half the Macedonian population who already vote for SDSM candidates.

Macedonians supporting Reka? Now that's odd. Who are these hillbillies?

I know many Macedonians who supported Blerim Reka.
The same happened with Imer Selmani many years ago when he was a candidate for a president.
Back than he got many votes in my town.
But why is that such a big tragedy for you?
Aren't you living in a very developed fully democratic country where there is no discrimination based on sex, religion, ethnicity and so on?
The people are not stupid, they don't vote for someone just because he or she is an ethnic Macedonian.
Basically both Pendarovski and that "grandma" Siljanovska are just puppets in the hands of Zaev and Mickoski.
But even so, they have barely any charisma to be a president, much like that clown Ivanov who happened to be a president for eight years.
Yes, we need some change, even if that means an Albanian president.
Aren't we a democratic multicultural society after all?
I am quite surprised how nationalistic you Australian Macedonians are.
No wonders that the fake VMRO,who btw should be denied using the name VMRO, but only DPMNE, wins there for many years.
By the way, I didn't vote this time but when Selmani run for president, I voted for him...
But if you ask me who I support most of the time, that was Ljubco Georgievski and since recently a very charismatic and smart young politician Petar Kolev!

Such a tragedy for me. My heart stopped. Ohhhhhhhh shit. I don't give a fuck that a handful of retarded Macedonians voted for an Albanian candidate. But do i believe it's the right thing to do in the context of Macedonia? No.

Aren't you living in a very developed fully democratic country where there is no discrimination based on sex, religion, ethnicity and so on? The people are not stupid, they don't vote for someone just because he or she is an ethnic Macedonian.
Yes i do live in one of those countries. But the difference is that the country i live in has one official language that is unchallenged by a specific ethnic group. The difference is that no specific ethnic group has started a civil war in my country and killed my armed forces. The difference is no specific ethnic group wants to annex parts of the country. The difference is that no specific ethnic group is putting up flags of a foreign country and erecting Nazi collaborator statues.

You see the difference between the country i live in and Macedonia, and why voting candidates into power should be treated differently? Or are you blind to see this and just believe that somehow my multi cultural society and Macedonia's multicultural society is somehow the same thing just because they are both called 'multicultural'. Don't be so naive.

I agree. Macedonia needs a nationalist, a true nationalist leader.

Yes, we need some change, even if that means an Albanian president.
Aren't we a democratic multicultural society after all?
Yep, but as i explained at the top, far from a multicultural society you see in the west. Multiculturalism in the west doesn't entail separatism.

I am quite surprised how nationalistic you Australian Macedonians are.
Macedonians are the only people who hate their diaspora. Jews love their diaspora. Greeks love their diaspora. It's a mental illness some creeps from the Republic have.

No wonders that the fake VMRO,who btw should be denied using the name VMRO, but only DPMNE, wins there for many years.
Denied by who? Isn't Macedonia a democratic country like the west? Also, who do you think is more worthy of calling their party VMRO? Karakachanov? Or the mentally ill Georgievski? My opinion is none is worthy or can live up to the true VMRO of old. Those true patriotic freedom fighters would be rolling in their graves at the state of Macedonia at the moment.

By the way, I didn't vote this time but when Selmani run for president, I voted for him...

Look, you can call me a retard or whatever you want but don't call me a hater, because I don't hate our Australian diaspora.
Why should I, that's just stupid!
However. it seems that you hate anyone who don't think like you and that's not very democratic as you probably know!
We are not all the same and we don't think the same and what you believe is right for Macedonia might be wrong for someone else!
You see, the false nationalism works like a religion, makes you hate the "evil one" and makes you scared of the "hell" while loving the "good one"!
At the end of the day, both of them have one purpose, to control the rayah, the mass of sheep so the shepherd can live good!
I don't see it as the end of the world if an Albanian becomes a president but now trying to decipher your reasoning, I see nothing else but a supporter of Grueveski and DPMNE residing abroad.
I wonder, what do they tell you over there or even better, what do they give you to eat as sandwiches obviously are not enough for residents of such a rich country!

What I find interesting from the 2019 presidential elections is how the number of Albanian votes has plummeted.

During each election (parlimentary not presidental) in the country since independence the Albanians have always cast around 240000 or so votes. Now presidential elections always have a lower voter turnout for the Albanians since they have no chance of an Albanian candidate winning. But if we look at the Albanian municipalities in the country voter turnout was really low. Turnout percentage is in the high teens to high 20's in Albanian only areas!!!!!

Voting in Albanian only Municipalities in the country
    Municipality.......votes.....turnout
    Zhelino.............3811.......16.2%
    Lipkovo.............6860.......27.0%
    Bogovine...........4615.......16.7%
    Aracinovo...........3100.......32.4%
    Saraj..................9061.......28.7%
    Tearce...............5527........25.0%
    Vrapciste............4936........19.2%
    Debar................5258.........28.2%

    Total Albanian Votes 43168

Now if we look at mixed municipalities - the percentage turnout is higher as Macedonians came out in higher numbers on average to vote

    Mixed Municipalities with Macedonians/Albanians/Turk/Roma.
    Municipality.......votes.....turnout
    Tetovo..............23806.....28.5%
    Stuenicani.........4884.......31.1%
    Gostivar............19116.......24.6%
    Brvenica............5121.........33.53%
    Cair..................20000.......34.6%
    Struga..............18626.......30.1%
    Kicevo..............17898........35.54%
    Kumanovo.........41190........44.37%
    Dolneni..............5161..........44.84%
    Krusevo..............5434.........68.5%
    Jegunovce...........3954.........38.6%
    Mavrovo..............2877..........29%
    Butel...................15603........46.9%
    Cashka.................3300..........54.7%
    Zelenikovo............2010...........53.9%
    Suto Orizari...........6899..........29.3%
    Sopiste.................2614...........52%
    Gazi Baba..............31193.........50.8%
    Cucer Sandevo........2944...........38.8%

    Total Mixed Macedonian/Albanian/Turk/Roma Votes: 232630

Also if you look at Macedonian only Municipalities where no Albanians live - most voter turnout was from 50-70%. So one can only assume that in the mixed municipalities with Albanians that the Albanians pulled the turnout percentages down.

So either the Albanians stayed home or they just are not in the country and are still on the voter rolls.
