The statistical error with a sample size of 22 is so high that the resulting statistic has very little meaning.
I would trust statistics with standard errors in the hundredths of a percent like Wateff's results no matter how old over a statistic from 32 individuals with a standard error of probably 10%+.

Schimmer found that 67.72% of Cisleithanian Austro-Hungarian schoolchildren had light eyes (blue, gray).
Thats almost 30% more than Bulgarian schoolchildren. Everywhere in Cisleithania (even Dalmatia) was found to be predominately light eyed, yet Bulgarians are majority dark eyed by a margin about 10%.
