No fan of abortion but for right wingers it is worth noting that criminalizing abortion has societal consequences:

-increases the % of the population that is black and hispanic. These groups abort more babies.
-increases the % of the population (and the white popultion) that is lower in iq. Educated people are less likely to have abortions
-increases the % of people who have mild disabilities
-increases crime rate, possibly by quite a bit. We have data with adequate controls from Sweden and general epidemiological data in the USA. http://freakonomics.com/2005/05/15/a...d-you-believe/
    -increases illegal abortion rate

Going back to traditional values. Though this is the US; I can't imagine anything like this passing in Western Europe.

It seems it is not ban, it is just lowering time limit for abortion on demand from 20 to 6 weeks.

In Serbia limit is 10 weeks and that is good limit in my opinion.

    Quote:

"Currently in Georgia, women are allowed to undergo abortion procedures up to their 20th week of pregnancy. Starting on January 1, the bill Kemp signed generally would ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which can be as early as six weeks into a pregnancy"

I've never really been pro life or pro choice but I'm fine with this. I love what this state has been doing over the last decade.

Looking through the article the bill seems fair. It allows early term abortions (6 weeks) and makes later exceptions for rape and if the mothers life is in danger .

"The bill includes some exceptions for situations of medical futility or where the mother's health is at risk as well as in cases of rape or incest before the 20-week mark"

Abortion is a heinous act and should be restricted as much as possible, excluding certain circumstances.

Many women could be 6 weeks pregnant and not know it. The problem with abortion is that too many people are listening to the extremes on both sides of the issue. Georgia’s law is a little short sighted and a bad move IMO. There’s room for compromise here but the men who drafted this proposal don’t seem willing to do so. I don’t think they’re thinking clearly about the risks involved with this.

I’m fairly conservative myself but the very conservative types seem to struggle with recognizing “unintended consequences” nor do they have the ability to grasp things from a different perspective.

It only banned late term abortions. A good start, though.
