It's typical Greek grammar (can't find the translation in English)
Let's say you are called "Giorgos" ,someone will ask "whose child is this?" "Tou(of) giorg-ou"
Don't become ridiculous like some other nationalities trying to find "relatives" everywhere. No offense.
In fact,it wouldn't surprise me If the -ou suffix in Romanian has its distant origins in Greek.

I'm not saying she's Romanian. I'm only saying she has a Romanian sounding name.
In Romanian it would be spelled Ioana Malescu.
The -escu suffix of the Romanian names has a Latin origin: it's derived from -iscus, and you'll find it preserved in other Romance languages as well.
