An interesting selection of faces. If we exclude the gypsy, then the Romanians are not very different from the Eastern Slavs.

They look different from Eastern Slavs. Romanians, in general, look the furthest away from Ukrainians out of all their neighbors. Only Northeastern Romanians look somewhat closer to them.

These are Northwestern Romanians, they look more Central Euro than Eastern Slavs.
Moldovans, on both sides of the border, look closer to Eastern Slavs.

I agree, but the difference in phenotypes is not so stunning anyway.

Indeed, not only that - the set is also very american. The whole thing looks unauthentic. They're good musicians but I don't like it.

it's not unauthentic within their group - they are organized the American way, their religious service is run like that, some get help to immigrate to Canada mostly but also to the US. I've had Adventist, Pentecostal, Evangelist and Baptist colleagues, I've joined their sports weekend group for a while and saw them closely. they have a lot of after-school activities for children, most learn to play an instrument and seem to have more fun than us. so although I'd never give up Orthodoxy for such a cult, they're not unauthentic within their group, it's just they are very different from the Orthodox but they've been so for some generations, they didn't appear with the fall of communism. their church activity reminds me of the Christian Blacks in American southern states

I think these are Adventists - they come mostly from villages across northwest and northeast Romania (this was shot in NW Romania). I think this group in the video is slightly lighter-pigmented as a group than a random average Romanian group, and mostly because they're peasants in origin.

They are Baptist not Adventist. The OP song is sung in a convention, so there are people from all over Romania, though most are from the northwestern parts of the country.

These protestant cults can be found all over the country, except in Wallachia (why is that, I don't know).

Many Romanians in the US are Protestant because they have assimilated.
The fact that the Orthodox churches in the US (ROEA) are not under the Romanian Patriarchy also didn't help.

The Orthodox Romanians are recent migrants (after 1990), with strong roots in Romania.


Related to this topic, northwestern Romanians look quite typical Midwestern American.
Look at this clip, women have this small Midwestern town look, with a mixture of Romance, Slavic and Germanic phenos. Men look more Balkan, but still pass.
