Default Are Blu-ray's DEAD? Long live digital?

What do you think? DVD/Blu-Ray/4k Blu-ray are they already doomed? Swallowed by Digital distribution just like video games?

I wanted to start collecting Blu-rays, but I am afraid to invest in something with shaky future.

    still not convinced.

But again it's so convenient to actually own something. I Imagine WW3 scenario: "Nukes are flying, my internet is dead, ITunes not available"

However if I used Blu-rays, I would be fine.
