Proto Illyrians=R1b; then they of course assimilated J and E natives, and these people became the Illyrian tribes. Illyrians were very irrelevant historically though so I don't see the obsession with them; they were just a small group of deranged, unrelated savage tribes which got cucked by the Romans and given a broad name. They didn't exist in any meaningful sense when the Slavs came.

The obsession of them mostly stems from South Slavs with identity crisis and trying to claim themselves as natives for political propganda and the Albanians as foreigners. , i.e Serbian propaganda.
