A man who was abandoned as a baby at Gatwick Airport has found his parents, 33 years after he was discovered wrapped in a blanket on a toilet floor.

Steve Hydes, dubbed “Gary Gatwick” by the press, was found by a member of staff as a 10-day-old infant on 10 April 1986.

The article says that the father was unaware of his son’s existence, but for some reason, his paperwork was destroyed? Also, birth mother is deceased. I would have been interested in what was happening between the mother and father at the time of his abandonment. Without any type of records, including the birth mother’s story, we can only form a circumstantial frame of this situation, at best.
