Its not a problem in Canada but whereever there are people there are gas resources being used up, land that is necessary to feed them, and so on. Its true there are some places that have a much worse problem but if you look at earth as a whole, it's also overpopulated. Also, in developed countries people use up more resources.

Let's not forget in countries like Canada or Sweden, most of the population lives in the South. Most of the land area is in the desolate Far North where most people do not want to live.
In Canada, for example, 90 percent of the country's population lives within 160km (only 100 miles) of the U.S. border. While in Sweden, about 70% of the population lives in the southern third of the country.
That's why overall population density figures can be misleading. The "more habitable" areas are much smaller than the total area.
