It's stupid to include such a score in the SAT and make it secret at the same time.
Have this score public - it might prove useful. Some form of positive discrimination based on socio-economic status is not a bad idea, esp if it's not based on race.
Btw, this guy annoys me quite a lot with the supposed discrimination Asian students face.
The situation he is talking about is another side effect of poor immigration policies. The past 30 years of tech based migration of people from India and China has created a segment of the population, namely Asian-American, in which highly skilled workers are the vast majority. The children of these people are much better prepared academically and so better qualified for college admission.
By numbers alone, this recent population of Asian Americans can overwhelm the traditional American system of private universities. So the question is: should these well known universities accept all Asians, many of which are not citizens, simply because they are qualified?
IMO America doesn't have a duty to educate all students that recently came from Asia in American top tier universities. America has a duty towards its own population first.

The SAT sparked debate with an adversity score that some say would discriminate against Asians. Is this another racist, social justice affirmative action policy? Or a way to genuinely gauge students' hardships?

Clear and blatant discrimination. For the most part it won't help E. S. Asians. It will be designed to help Blacks and Latinos. Also universities will always take X amount of foreign students because they can charge them 3 times more than Americans.
