The great irony is this kind of voluntary segregation is more common in the "enlightened and progressive" northern states at the same time they look down their smug noses at the south for being intolerant and backwards.

Blacks are still separated from whites in so many aspects, so are Latins and Asians. The USA shows us how people volunteerly want to live/work in places that has people of their race.

I think my answer made plenty of sense. African Americans and colonial stock White Americans would of course have more in common culturally but races tend to behave differently.

Balkan Slavs are white. African Americans are black. Whites have been trying to avoid living around blacks for quite a long time (White flight) even if they don't fully realize that that's what they're doing. "Oh, we want to raise our kids in a place with nicer schools." or "That area has a lot of crime." etc etc

We will witness the division in the ethnic votes, the GOP will turn more and more to a intrest party of the white population while the Democrats already seeks to do identity politics for the Latinos and Blacks.

The Black population is no higher per capita now in the US than it was in the 19th century, while increasing immigration controls, growing prosperity in Mexico and increasing rates of intermarriage mean that the growth of Hispanics won't necessarily be forever either.
