Actually, since the 19th century African-Americans have always hovered around 10-15% of the population depending on immigration and birth rates, and I am sure I read that upon independence it was close to 20%. What's more, they've been there for longer than many White ethnic groups like Italians, Greeks, Poles, Russians, Irish etc., thus they have at least an equal if not greater right to be called Americans and regarded as part of the American nation than any of those.

Race is more important than any other identity, especially in the USA, people are just to pussy to admit it. Whites,blacks,asians of all socioeconomic classes choose to live in neighborhoods with a mayority of their own race.

African Americans started to migrate to the Midwest in large numbers only a 100 years ago. Their migration to the region is actually more recent than that of Eastern Europeans.

What is wrong with it, though? My experience, is the Aunt Jemima is a happy person with a cheerful disposition. The east euros seem rather depressed and not culturally connected to America in the historical context.
