London Accents: RP | Cockney | Multicultural London English

RP is easier for non-native speakers because most of the letters are pronounced and probably stereotypical English accent.
The guy who doing Multi accent forgot to left out west-Indian, mostly Jamaican as being the biggest influence in 'MLE' London speech. African and Asian literally has zero influence on the accent. Cockney sounds more like thames Estuary accent from someone who's watched too much EastEnders.

Honestly, nowadays you can hear more truly Cockney accents in many parts of Wales than in most of London (all the tourists and retirees in particular down here). Nowadays most native Londoners (and I use the term loosely) speak either RP or MLE, because paradoxically London has become at once both more middle-class and more multiethnic than it used to be.

Honestly, nowadays you can hear more truly Cockney accents in many parts of Wales than in most of London (all the tourists and retirees in particular down here). Nowadays most native Londoners (and I use the term loosely) speak either RP or MLE, because paradoxically London has become at once both more middle-class and more multiethnic than it used to be.

I met a lot of Welsh people and they don't sound cockney at all. If anything, Essex people sound more ''old cockney'' than they do sound Essex.

I think you misunderstood what I mean. In much of Wales, there are so many settlers from London and surrounding areas (who tend to be older as well) that you can often hear more authentic Cockney accents than you can nowadays in most of London.
