I feel more affinity with Americans, regardless of their color or creed, than any other nationality.

A brown person lives in the same neighbourhood, kids go to the same school, they speak the same language with the same accent, do BBQ's etc. and have the same daily issues as each other relating to everyday life.

Why would anybody feel a stronger affinity to another person who looks the same but from a different culture in another nation 5000 miles away?

Because those people as a group are bad for your country, the situation you desribe is not normal in the USA. Ever saw ethnic distribution of parts within a city? volunteerly segerated.

Plus every ethnicity in the USA has a sub-culture.

I feel more close to you in fucking NZ than to a 4th gen muslim immigrant living 20meters away from me.

The difference is in integration. I understand your position but the situation isn't identical everywhere nor is it identical region by region, suburb by suburb.

My two best friends are Maori Guys who you would like, mate. Their ethnicity doesn't define them.

If we speak about ethnic groups we gotta define them as groups or keep the status quo.

We could simply tell a Jew that Schindler was a Nazi and therfor not all nazis are bad and they can get along with them.

In Rhodesia not all blacks were evil too, what did it change? nothing.

African-Americans, Germanic broski.... United States is/was a colonized new world creation whereas Europe is conversely an old world creation. We are simply two worlds apart with European and American ethos differing esoterically. U.S. is a creole amalgamation of differing cultural influences that started out as Britain's lost step child with Spanish, French, and Dutch influences. Whereas Europe existed since millennia deeply divided by nationalities, boundaries and a microcosm of different European language families.

What may be widespread and culturally accepted in the U.S. would probably be meet with strange eyes in Europe and vice versa. American identity is simply "American" without any ties to the old world way of life; it is simply a new world identity propagating itself as a newly evolved, distinct identity. The divergence in American and European identitarianism is through their convergent histories. Europeans are more tribal and identify more through nationalities (i.e. 'Dutch', 'German', and Scottish', etc.); always competing and "one-upping" one another amongst yourselves. Whereas the U.S. coalesced into its own entity, far removed from the world stage as an isolated, slumbering giant until World War II. Americans identify more with one another based upon our unique history and regional cultures/past times that isn't strongly grounded in identity politics until recently.

The only superficial similarity we have with Europeans is the globalized, "Western culture" mindset; so the ties between us is cordial at best.

Unless, N.W. Euros assimilate and adopt an American culture and mindset.... we will always be two different cultures.
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”
