If the US were forced into a ground war in Iran it would look worse than Vietnam. We would not win this war.
The US has an exceptional military force but I think even our own military has run simulations and concluded that it would be a bloodbath that would require much more commitment than the American people are willing to commit to.
The most jingoistic of our populace and the neo-conservative warhawk Zionists could perhaps convince the less informed of us to support strategic airstrikes for some alleged grievance but most Americans would not be willing to have members of our family die in a place that most of us couldn't reliably pick out on a map.
