Yes mainly Shepard's; but they also farmed produce like grapes, corn etc; my grandfathers side had a vineyard. I have not heard of potato farming, it is not something my ancestors did as far as I know.

Many people who identify as Montenegrin have heavy Albanian admix autosomally and by y dna, and plot to the south-west. Especially ones from the Brda region. There is obviously a lot of Serbs from Montenegro as well, but such people aren't "Montenegrin" but Serbs from Montenegro, which is different

My ancestors were both farmers and shepards. They lived at the beginning of hill near field. They had agriculture fields (wheat, maize, vineyard) plus they lead the sheeps on mountain above the village.

Photos from my village. Houses are at the beginning of hill/mount, enough close to field but not in field because fiels was for agriculture and houses would be occupied fertile land.

Your dad Dalmatian Serb vs. Montenegrin user Ogi 24 (main components of K13).

    Your dad
    Baltic 31.47
    North_Atlantic 24.12
    West_Med 17.07
    East_Med 15.22
    West_Asian 9.07

    Ogi24
    Baltic 25.93
    North_Atlantic 22.56
    West_Med 19.3
    East_Med 19.29
    West_Asian 9.35

Ogi24 is typical Montenegrin. Their more southern ploting is probably Shiptar admixture (I am not political correct ).

We Krajina Serbs are not originated from Montenegro. We ploting more northern than Montenegrins.

Most of Piperi are of Albanian origin. Piperi are pred. R1b-BY611 and this clade is proto-Albanian. Piperi have I2a in minority.

Details for origin of Kuči from genetic side know Albanian user Kelmendasi.
Interesting Montenegrin Kuči are Orthodox and Serbs/Montenegrins, and Kuči Zatrijepčani are Catholics and Albanians. Both carry E-V13.

What about that both east Montenegrins and west Albanians have same Vlach origin?
Why everything what Slavs have similar with Albanians must be Albanian?
Albanians first time cross Drin river aftter Ottoman arrival.

R1b-BY611 is connected with Albanians without doubt. This clade is quite common in Albanians, and rare among other Balkan people. Only non-Albanians with high R1b-BY611 are Sandžakian Muslims, but from history is known that they are mostly of Albanian Malesor origin. R1b-BY611 can be found on Peloponesse where Arvanites Albanians lived who are grekized and in parts of southern Italy were Arbereshe Albanians lived who are italianized.

For E-V13 it's possible that came to the both Serbs and Albanians from Vlachs.
