You're right. Average height in the US, Northern Europe and the Netherlands has stopped going up since the 80's. Other countries will generally stop growing taller when the average height will have reached somewhere in the 180 - 185cm range. That's not the case for all countries though, a medium rich country like Japan has stopped growing for a long time and remains at a 172cm average among young men whereas Northern Chinese young men are already 176-177cm and continue to grow taller. This all comes to down to nutrition, something correlated with wealth but not caused by it.

It's a known fact though I've very rarely seen exceptions.

But meat isn't the only food that contains proteins. Eggs, fish and milk are protein rich for example and like I said, there's more at play in regards to this other than a person's diet. Even what a woman eats(and God forbid dosn't smoke or drink alcohol) while pregnant is very important as well.

Ask an average woman to give you a scale with her hands what one foot is. I guarantee they will all be way off

It is likely a combination of better nutrition and less acute illnesses in childhood. For instance, diarrhoea, which prevents nutrient uptake. Sports and physical activity during puberty releasing natural hgh surely counts too.
