I am old enough to remember when SNL was funny. It was some time in the early 2000's that it went downhill. I watch MAD TV in re-runs. The humor seems a tad more juvenile and less sophisticated . Do the shows appeal to different demographics? It always seemed as though SNL was more adult humor, political satire and stayed. MAD TV was geared towards young adults and teens. Now that SNL is so un-funny, MAD TV sketches, as juvenile and silly as they were, appear better quality over the years. I'm guessing MAD TV was simply an attempt to top SNL's earlier days of humor by being more over the top and flamboyant.
The shows are similar, yet so different
I find the church lady funny and hilarious :
Miss Swan, not so much...
The latter comedy seems more forced and for younger audiences. MAD TV was a poor man's SNL, back when SNL was actually funny.
Any thoughts?
