Well, while you have the people that darkwash Southern Italians/Sicilians, you also have some Italian users that only posts Central/Northern Euro shifted compatriots, and when someone posts a common med (specially if (s)he is Northern Italian), they get trigerred.
Not talking about yourself, but Italians (and also Iberian/Balkanites) tend to be the most OWD ethnicities in these forums.
But you're right when you talk about Italians being trolled, many think Southern Italians/Sicilians are all exotic/borderline Euro, while others think Northern Italians are a completely distinct race from Southern ones.
