Which area is more historically polish? West Ukraine or West Belorussia?

West Ukraine (including the city of Lvov) was part of the Kingdom (Crown) of Poland since the early 1300s, long before Poland and Lithuania became one country.

West Belarus was never politically part of the Crown of Poland (it was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania), but due to cultural and demographic processes, it gradually became heavily Polonized and in many counties ethnic Poles were the majority of population in the early 20th century (and in some even today).

West Belarus was just ethnically/culturally Polish.

West Ukraine was politically Polish too. So West Ukraine.

The oldest part of Poland is Wielkopolska (highlighted in the map below):

We started the whole business (we founded the country and Poland is named after the tribe of Polans who lived in this region - other regions had other tribes, for example around Warsaw there were Masovians, around Cracow Vistulans, around Rzeszow Lendians, and so on):



But people from other parts often disagree and say they are more Polish.

Like in any other country - northern regions populated by Nords, southern regions populated by Wogs. Accordng to anthroforums.

Sometimes you can but I guess it was true mainly for older generations. For younger generations it is not so easily distinguishable.

I know that Poles from Lvov used to have a very, very distinct accent.
