for most people it's just difficult to let go...
it's good to imagine you can somehow contact them. just knowing that, gives u comfort. i prefer not to contradict them.

I don't think this is possible. From what I know, these spirits are actually demons/evil spirits masquerading as dead people. There's actually a separate type of demon that specializes in pretending to be dead people. But they're impostors who are out to trick people, in order to keep them away from God and salvation. Their aim is to keep misleading people until they die, and then that they would go to hell, and not be saved to be with God.

I had kind of an experience. My dad died from a massive heart attack unexpectedly 5 years ago. I had a dream about him the night he collapsed in his driveway while getting out of his truck. I dreamt that my brothers and i were taking my dad out to breakfast. We walked into the restaurant arm in arm. We all raised our drinks to him and said cheers. He then said he needed to use the restroom. He was in there a long time, so my oldest brother went to check on him. My brother came out and said he died of a heart attack in the restroom.
I woke up from the dream to my phone ringing. It was my uncle calling. He informed me my dad had a heart attack and died that night. It was surreal. I didn't know if i was still dreaming.
The dream felt like i got to see my dad one last time and kind of say goodbye.
Then a couple months later I dreamt that my dad called me on the phone. I said to him, " how are you calling me you are dead?" He then hung up.
I had that dream twice. They always started out the same...just saying " hi, how are you?"
