I've done a bit of research and this is apparently called "deathbed visions". They are most likely caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain or a side effect of morphine.
Either way, even if it was just a hallucination, it would still be nice to see your deceased loved ones one more time...
Even if it's not real, it would feel real to you and that would be pretty cool. It's comforting to think I could see my dad again even if it is just one more time in a hallucination.

The jury's out on that, and they aren't "most likely" deathbed hallucinations; good grief, there's a lot of anecdotal evidence that takes us away from the effects of morphine and lack of oxygen. The matter is debatable, and very critical to our understanding of the meaning of life.
