Ooh I just read this on the Guardian, everyone's having a bitch fit over this.

Now they're comparing him to Mr. Fawlty. Poor John's had a rude awakening in recent years, many liberals from 1960s England have. It's a bit late to take it all back now.

What's worse for the European Left is how a lot of those old liberals end up crossing benches or, at least, working with nationalists. It's something they fear the most because if establishment politicians cross benches, the Left will be seen as the odd ones out, the real radicals.
