Default President Trump will bring 'The Beast' and Air Force One for Presidential UK Visit on 3rd June, 2019

Donald Trump's UK visit: What’s he bringing with him?

    31st May, 2019

A multi-million-pound security operation is under way ahead of Donald Trump's UK state visit, intended to create an impenetrable ring of steel around the US president.

President Trump's three-day trip, from Monday, 3 June, at the invitation of the Queen, could cost more than £18m.

As the White House advance teams begin to arrive in Britain, what will the security operation involve and what hardware and staff will the president be bringing with him?

The president will arrive in the UK on his customised, high-spec aircraft Air Force One and is likely to touch down at Stansted Airport, north of London.

Air Force One isn't actually a specific plane but instead refers to one of two specially adapted Boeing 747-200B series aircraft, which carry the tail codes 28000 and 29000.

Whichever of these aircraft the president is on board is referred to as Air Force One.

However, on his latest trip to the UK, both jets could be in use.

According to US news reports, President Trump will be bringing all his adult children and their spouses, thus requiring a second plane.

With its advanced avionics and defences, Air Force One is classed as a military aircraft, designed to withstand an air attack.

It can jam enemy radar and eject flares to throw heat-seeking missiles off course.

It is also capable of refuelling midair, allowing it to fly for an unlimited time - crucial in an emergency.

Air Force One is also equipped with secure communications equipment, allowing the aircraft to function as a mobile command centre.

There are 85 onboard telephones, a collection of two-way radios and computer connections.

Inside, the president and his travel companions enjoy 4,000 sq ft of floor space on three levels, including an extensive suite for the president, a medical facility with an operating table, a conference and dining room, two food preparation galleys that can feed 100 people at a time, and designated areas for the press, VIPs, security and secretarial staff.

Several cargo planes, including C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft, carry the president's fleet of armoured vehicles and helicopters, landing in advance of his arrival.

According to the Washington Post, the president is always accompanied by a military aide carrying an emergency satchel known as the "football", which contains the "gold codes" for launching the country's nuclear weapons and options for their use.

The military aide must be nearby the president at all times, as the commander-in-chief is in possession of personal identification codes required to order a strike.

They are carried on a plastic card known as the "biscuit", which can be read only when its opaque plastic covering is snapped in two and removed.

The presidential motorcade, which includes two identical limousines and other security and communications vehicles, will be flown across ahead of the president by United States Air Force transport aircraft.

On the ground, the president travels in Cadillac One - a bullish, enhanced limousine dubbed the "Beast" for obvious reasons.

The spare, decoy vehicle that accompanies it has the same Washington DC licence plates - 800-002.

President Trump's generation of presidential car debuted in 2018 - with the US Secret Service tweeting ahead of the UN General Assembly that it was "ready to roll".

But the service and vehicle's designers at General Motors have remained tight-lipped about the vehicle's special security features.

Weighing in at about nine tonnes (20,000lb) - with an armour-plated body and bulletproof windows (which don't all open) - the car is reported to have tear gas grenade launchers, night vision cameras and a built-in satellite phone.

Reinforced tyres surround steel-rimmed wheels, which mean the car can still be driven if the tyres are flat.

The passenger cabin is said to be sealed, to fend off a chemical attack, while special foam would surround the fuel tank in case of impact.

The vehicle also has extensive electronic equipment, Reuters reports.

The car can hold at least seven people and has a wide range of medical supplies on board, including - NBC News suggests - a fridge full of the president's blood.

    But that's not all.

When the president's on the move - you know about it.

Other vehicles in the cavalcade include a parade of police outriders, secret service backup vehicles, counter-assault and hazardous attack teams, an armoured SUV communications vehicle, known as Roadrunner, medics and the press corps.

The president will also bring a fleet of helicopters with him to the UK.

Among them will be Marine One, which, like Air Force One, isn't a specific aircraft but instead refers to any US Marine Corps aircraft carrying the president.

However, Marine One usually refers to one of the president's large Sikorsky VH-3D Sea Kings or the newer, smaller VH-60N White Hawks.

The specially adapted helicopters are known as "white tops" because of their livery and are fitted with communications equipment, anti-missile defences and hardened hulls.

As a security measure, Marine One often flies in a group of identical helicopters acting as decoys.

It is also usually accompanied by two or three Osprey MV-22 escort aircraft, referred to as "green tops".

These tilt-rotor aircraft carry support staff, special forces and secret service agents, who are tasked with dealing with any mid-flight emergency.

The Ospreys, capable of vertical landings and high-speed flight, were heard circling around London during President Trump's last visit to the UK in 2018.

Staff are also transported around in CH-46s Sea Knight helicopters.

British forces' aircraft will also be part of the operation.

Some estimates put the number of people in Mr Trump's entourage for his last UK visit at 1,000, including more than 150 US secret service agents.

Staff included military communications specialists, White House aides, a doctor, a chef and members of the media.

Some 750 rooms were booked out to accommodate his entourage in 2018, according to Matt Chorley, of the Times newspaper.

The army of staff will be on hand throughout President Trump's trip, which will begin with a ceremonial welcome and private lunch at Buckingham Palace, afternoon tea with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and a state banquet in the palace's ballroom.

Mr Trump will also hold discussions with Prime Minister Theresa May at St James's Palace and 10 Downing Street and host a dinner at the US ambassador's residence at London's Regent's Park.

On his final day, along with members of the Royal Family, he will attend a ceremony in Portsmouth to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

The White House said the upcoming trip would reaffirm the "steadfast and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom".

    Thousands of police

Policing the president's visit will be a huge nationwide operation.

President Trump sits in Winston Churchill’s chair as a guest of Prime Minister May at Chequers.

His four-day working visit to the UK last July cost more than £14.2m in policing, figures released under Freedom of Information laws showed.

The Met Police's counter-terror officers - armed with semi-automatic weapons - were also out in force.

Some have estimated President Trump's second official visit, this time a state occasion, will come with a policing bill of £18m.

The Met Police said it would be "a multi-agency policing operation with a very experienced command team in place", and the cost, while still too early to say, would be "significant".

President Obama also had motorcades and security helicopters overhead duriing his visits to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace, City of Westminster, London, UK.

The presidential motorcade of Barack Obama on The Mall in London in front of Buckingham Palace. The Special Escort Group (SEG) Honda VFR1200F motorcycles clear traffic while a lead rider and a SEG BMW 7-series lead the spare limousine and the primary limo (codename "Stagecoach"). The two Land Rovers following the Secret Service Suburbans contain London Metropolitan Police Anti-Terrorist Counter Assault Teams. It appears that the second Chevy Suburban is the new Electronic Counter-Measures Vehicle (for jamming mobile phones, radios and IEDs) by the looks of the antennae on the roof, though the antennae are different from the ECMV seen in Paris just a few months ago.

This is perhaps the smallest (and calmest) US presidential motorcade I've ever seen.

Barack Obama had just finished a press conference with David Cameron at 10 Downing Street and is seen here on his way to dinner at Kensington Palace with Prince William and Princess Kate.

Well, a very dirty and nasty move was made the other day against Boris Johnson to have him prosecuted.

Legal charges were privately pressed against Bori a few days ago - just as he was running in the race to be the next UK PM... and just as he was being tipped as the most likely candidate to succeed May.

He's now facing prosecution and court charges over allegedly 'misleading the public' during his role in public office whilst leading the Brexit campaign in 2016 to leave the EU.

It's been 3 years since the 2016 referendum ... and they waited until this moment when he's running for UK PM to press charges.

It's reminiscent of the dirty move which was made against Trump when those secret locker room tapes were released to the media very soon before the U.S. Presidential Election.

If Boris is convicted, it's been legally shown and reported in the media that he could possibly spend the rest of his life in jail. (Although I doubt that would happen to him.)

A news crew should be arrested and prosecuted for harassing Boris the other day outside of his home - and also for filming him without his permission. They also filmed and publicly broadcasted to the media how he locks his car and unlocks his front door... which could be a security threat for him.

Boris has been harassed a lot by the UK media eversince the 2016 referendum. He's been blamed by politicians and the media for having the most influence in getting people to vote to leave the EU. He said in an interview that he woke-up on the morning after the 2016 referendum and saw a small crowd of staged protestors outside his house... and they were shouting 'Boris, you c*nt' and were being abusive towards him.

No charges were pressed against them.... yet the moment Brexit protestors called Anna Soubry as an anti-democratic fascist outside parliament, she had them arrested.

    It's double-standards.

Remain protesters and politicians are allowed to gravely mislead the public on loads of issues, (such as leading the UK into unnecessary wars, lying about the EU, heavily slandering Brexiteers, and launching Project Fear and daily media fearmongering against leaving the EU without a deal.)

If Boris is made to face legal charges... then every politician in parliament must also face charges too for all their lies (much worse lies and misleading of the public) and corruption... and all those politicians in Lib/Lab/Con were exposed in the media after stealing public taxmoney for their living expenses... and who just simply apologised to the public and didn't resign and were prosecuted, etc. Why should only be Boris be singled out?

What about the arrogant ChangeUK MP's (a group of dissidents (such as the much despised Anna Soubry) who played musical seats when they left the parties that they were voted to represent in their local constituencies when they came into power... and have changed to represent a different political party after they were elected to power.) They joined a newly formed anti Brexit party called 'ChangeUK'. They should all be prosecuted for misleading the public by changing to other parties after they were voted to represent a different party, and more besides.

Boris was cool when he was the former London Mayor, although he was well known for spending a lot on vanity projects.

Another problem with Boris is he's full of pranks and can be a buffoon at times.

He'd be the most entertaining and fun PM.

Once he lit-up and smoked a big cigar in front of an audience on national TV in defiance of the government smoking ban in public places... but as funny as he is, we really need someone who we can have full confidence in on delivering Brexit. It's not about who would be the funniest leader, or the most charismatic, or the best looking... but the best candidate will be whoever can give us a proper and full Brexit.

Boris has made a lot of controversial quotes... such as stating, 'The reason why President Obama has a deep visceral hatred for the UK is due to his partial Kenyan heritage'.. ...and 'If it's legally acceptable for two men to be married in church, then it must also be legally acceptable for two men and their dog to be married - where do we draw the line?!'

    He's full of funny pranks.

Another time he arrived for a formal visit inside a Sikh temple (where alcohol is banned due to their religion,) and he said in a speech to them (short and funny video clip below,) that the UK should import more duty-free whisky to India, and he told them that we should start doing free-trade deals with India and sell them more whisky... which outraged and upset the Sikhs inside the temple.

When May tried to push her treacherous deal with the EU through UK parliament 3 times, he eventually surrended and voted in favour of that awful deal on 29th March.... even though her proposed deal with the EU didn't get enough support in parliament even on the third attempt. The extremely unpopular and much-hated proposed deal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF50...&frags=pl%2Cwn would've served the UK with a death sentence and it was voted down 3 times by many MP's in all parties in parliament.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48395611

I'd be cool with Boris as the UK leader - although my first choice would be to have a much tougher and more resolute Brexiteer MP to replace May... such as Steve Baker, Priti Patel, Joesph Rees-Mogg, or Dominic Raab... who also voted to leave the EU in the 2016 referendum and who also stood in the leave campaign and who also voted against May's deal proposal with the EU.

Priti Patel is a more hardline Brexiteer than Boris.

Rees-Mogg is more hardlinee too - but he won't be in the race to succeed May sadly. Baker and Patel haven't confirmed whether or not they're standing amongst the confirmed contenders.

Martial art black belt holder Dominic Raab would stand up to the bullies in Brussels and won't cower or submit to them like May did. He's also a more hardline Brexiteer than Boris.

Brexiteer Esther McVey is also a candidate and she'd be good too.

The last thing I want is another Remainer Tory MP taking over from May... such as Sajid David, Matt Hancock, Rory Stewart, etc.

I have to say I would vote for Boris just for how cheeky he is XD. That's what we need in America just a normal dude who is passionate. I like Trump but one that really bothered me is how he smeared John McCain, that's one thing I loved about John McCain too was his humor. I hope the conservatives get a good leader though May was probably the most forgettable leader in a long time.

Bad news, Sam Gyimah has confirmed in the last hour that he's standing amongst the contenders to become the new UK PM after May resigns.

He's amongst the anti Brexit Remainiac MP's who is spreading misleading lies and fearmongering against leaving the EU without a deal.

I wouldn't trust him as the new UK leader due to his anti-democratic calling for a second referendum.

Gyimah clearly doesn't respect the democratic peoples vote to leave the EU during the 2016 referendum.... and arrogantly and anti-democratically wants to hold another nationwide referendum vote on leaving the EU.

Sajid Javid is also amongst the contenders to take over as the UK leader.

If politicians won't dignify the public on the first vote... why would they dignify the public on a second vote. How many referendum 'peoples votes' do they want until the bad losers get the results they want?

Nigel Farage should be involved in the government's Brexit negotiations and the UK should be prepared to leave the EU with no deal, Donald Trump has said.

In a Sunday Times interview, the US president was critical of government's Brexit negotiations, saying it left the EU "with all the cards."

The interview comes before his state visit to the UK begins on Monday.

On Saturday Mr Trump also said Boris Johnson would be an "excellent" Conservative Party leader.

Breaking with diplomatic convention, Mr Trump said the leader of the Brexit Party - an arch critic of Prime Minister Theresa May - "has a lot to offer" in negotiations with the EU, and should be included.

"Think how well they would do if they did," he added.

He also said the UK should walk away if it does not get what it wants from EU negotiations.

"If you don't get the deal you want, if you don't get a fair deal, then you walk away."

Meanwhile, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has marked Mr Trump's visit by calling him "one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat".

In an article for the Observer, Mr Khan said: "The far right is on the rise around the world, threatening our hard-won rights and freedoms and the values that have defined our liberal, democratic societies for more than 70 years."

In April, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said he was boycotting Mr Trump's state banquet at Buckingham Palace, in protest at the president's "racist and misogynistic rhetoric".

But the US Ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, said he believed "everything is going to go great" on the trip.

Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Johnson also talked about potential future trade agreements between the two countries after Brexit.

He said the UK would not have to accept US agriculture standards to get a deal - although he said the "American food supply is as safe as anything in Europe".

And while he called the NHS the "pride of the country", he said that in order to strike a deal, "all things that are traded would be on the table" - including healthcare.

    Trump's views on...

Jeremy Corbyn, Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson

    • Jeremy Corbyn: Asked if he would share US intelligence with a Corbyn government, the US president said: "I would have to know him, I would have to meet."

    • Brexit: On paying a £39bn ($50bn) divorce bill: "I wouldn't pay $50bn. That is me. I would not pay - that is a tremendous number."

    • Nigel Farage: "I got to know him when he liked my campaign and he actually came to a speech and I met him. I think he is a terrific person. Really, a terrific person."

    • A US-UK trade deal: "One of the advantages of Brexit is the fact that now you can deal with the No 1 country by far."

    • Boris Johnson as PM: "[He] would do a very good job - he would be excellent. He has been very positive about me and our country."

The US president also reiterated his praise for Boris Johnson - who is willing to leave the EU with no deal.

Mr Johnson is one of the candidates in Tory leadership contest to replace Prime Minister Theresa May.

Sajid Javid, Esther McVey and Dominic Raab have said the UK should leave the EU on the current planned departure date of 31 October with or without an agreement.

But Rory Stewart does not back a no-deal Brexit - and Matt Hancock says politicians must be honest about the trade-offs involved in getting a deal approved by MPs.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said trying to push through a no-deal Brexit would be committing "political suicide", although he agreed the option had to remain on the negotiating table.

To compensate for lost trade with the EU, Mr Trump vowed to "go all out" to secure a free trade deal between the UK and US within months of Britain leaving the bloc.

The first day of Mr Trump's state visit to the UK will include a private lunch with the Queen, tea with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
