As said above, virtue signalling. Most don’t even know the full story of what’s going on between Israel and Palestine, they just need to make sure that others think they’re showing genuine concern. I personally don’t care much what either side of the Israel-Palestine conflict does so long as they keep their squabble to themselves and don’t drag Europe into it.
