Default Why isn't Canada considered part of Latin America?

Canada began its history as a French colony, and a Latin language is still spoken by a large percentage of the population.

So at least Quebec should be counted as part of Latin America. I guess it would be counted as such if it was independent.

I know Americans call them Snow Mexicans, but I guess that it is not serious - in fact they don't count them as Latinos?

    Edit:

The final proof that Canada is Latin American is their Prime Minister Trudeau, who looks Latino af if you ask me or anyone else:

He passes best among other Latin Americans:

In 2016 census, ca. 5% of the population declared to be of aboriginal race, and in total over 6% reported some indigenous ancestry.

Even in many "proper Latin American" countries, such as for example Uruguay, the percent of Native population is smaller than this.

Latin generally means Indian/Spanish/Black heritage. We call people of mostly Spanish/Indian/Euro heritage Hispanics, Central Americans or South Americans. At least from the political context in America.

    Puerto Rico=:Latino Mexico=Hispanic.

So you do actually distinguish between Latinos and Hispanics, right?

Logically, Quebecers are Latinos but not Hispanics, because their Latin language is not Spanish but French = Non-Hispanic Latino.

So Canada is part of Latin America but not part of Hispanic America.

Well, logically, Quebecers are Latinos but not Hispanics, because their Latin language is not Spanish but French - so Non-Hispanic Latino.

So Canada is part of Latin America but not part of Hispanic America.
That's an Academic perspective, we go by political here in America we classify Latino and Hispanic as separate peoples but put them in the same category for statistics.

And Canadians are counted as Non-Hispanic Latinos in your statistics?

We don't consider French people Latino here, they are white; we even consider Arabs and Iranians white people.

Cajuns in the USA are also Latinos, they are actually even race mixed with strong Non-European admixtures.

Many Latinos are White too, especially from countries like Uruguay, Argentina or from Southern Brazil.

French Canadians are mixed with Amerindian blood. Especially Acadians, Cajuns and related groups.
