Default Do yout think King Henry VIII was all that bad?

It seems before his jousting accident, he was a pretty nice guy. Almost a romantic. I think he wanted a male heir so bad, that he got obsessed with finding the right woman. He loved Ann Boylen, but he become jaded and believed in the gossip about her infidelity. It made him feel emasculated. Maybe the jousting accident turned him into a slight sociopath, because he had a brain injury and chronic health issues from it . He is rather maligned in history. Sad.

He was unusually fat for those days standards. The guy probably ate his enemies.

He was very tall too. To speak seriously being fat was high class back then but now it is the opposite.

The Tudors were distantly Welsh, but no more favourable to Wales' actual interests than England's elites generally were. Anyway, he was in many ways an uncaring misogynist, but however unintentionally he broke off the yoke of Rome and started the slow process of modernisation and secularisation of the country.

Fat bastard burnt most of the Old English Catholic monasteries in which were stored who knows how many linguistic treasures, Beowulf being but a remnant.

Classic literature is much overpraised it is not like Euclid's Elements or something. Nothing is more permanent than Math of man's creations when the Parthenon is Dust math will still be around. There was no publishing industry or Gutenberg press which means the literature back then was a joke.

    E-V22 - E-BY7449 - E-BY7566 - E-FT155550
According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.

Practically eliminated what the Vikings had spared inadvertently.

I'd say he's up there with medieval figures like Cadwallon of Gwynedd and Penda of Mercia as far as being terrible went.
