Philippine President Duterte says he 'used to be gay' before he 'cured' himself

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has told a crowd he "used to be gay" before he "cured" himself.

The President -- who is known for making colorful remarks -- made the comment during a speech to the Filipino community while visiting Tokyo on Thursday.

After accusing his political opponent and vocal critic Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV of being gay, Duterte said he could sense he himself was also "a bit gay" while married to his ex-wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman. Their marriage was annulled in 2000.
Duterte went on to say that he was "cured" after meeting current partner Honeylet Avanceña.
"I became a man again! So beautiful women cured me," Duterte said. "I hated handsome men afterwards. I now prefer beautiful women."
Duterte has a history of making controversial and contradictory remarks about the LGBT community.
In 2016, Duterte called the US ambassador to his country a "gay son of a b***h" in a speech, prompting US diplomats to raise the issue with their Filipino counterparts in Washington.
In March the following year, Duterte said he told Filipinos in Myanmar he was against same-sex marriage, and that recognizing marriages other than those between a man and a woman wouldn't be acceptable in Philippines, which is predominantly Catholic.
But later that year, he said the rights of the LGBT community would be protected during his presidency.
"There will be no oppression and we will recognize your importance in society," Duterte said at an LGBT conference in Davao City in the Philippines.

duterte is actually anti-corruption against the catholic system in the philippines ( he believes in God) . he was molested by catholic priest when he was kid.

catholic system has influence over the government politics but the catholic system aren't that powerful enough to control everyones daily lives.

I’m not saying Duterte did not say those but I need to see and hear with my own eyes and not relay on fake news peddling media outlets. He could be joking. Or it could be a way to divert attention from other political issues. Or he could simply have changed, because for some people sexuality is fluid.

Duterte has expressed he was pro legalizing gay marriage in the past.

He was molested during his Catholic school days that’s why he’s very angry at priests and their hypocrisy. He's still a Christian, though.

Is he homophobic? I don’t know. I’m sure there’s a facet in him connected to his trauma of being molested that makes him slightly homophobic.

He dislikes the Church. He’s very vocal and critical about them dipping their finger when it comes to state affairs. He’s a weird guy because he doesn’t care what he says or does. His ethos is just all about the law.

Of course, religion certainly plays a lot into general opinion and approach (his as well). Religion is such a huge factor in all our lives. It’s already part of us even when we are not yet conscious with our surroundings. It’s as much a premeditated factor in our lives like who our parents are or where we are born.

Also, Duterte has a habit of messing around with the press. He says a lot of bullshit because he knows they won’t report whatever he actually said. It’s a weird thing he does that I don’t personally like but he’s a no fucks given guy.

Watch the press focus on this instead of reporting about the Canadian garbage he’s sending back to them and asking the ship’s captain to dump the garbage on Canadian waters if Canada refuses to accept their own garbage.

A Canadian company mislabeled 100+ container ships that actually contains toxic garbage and dumped it in the Philippines. That was six years ago. In that six years, Canada changed governments and Trudeau has been there twice and in both occasions, have promised to take back the garbage. Nothing done. Duterte got pissed about it and called out Trudeau for his hypocrisy on virtue signaling on the environment and climate change when his own country is dumping their own toxic garbage in other countries so he said that the Philippines will instead shoulder the cost of sending back the garbage back to Canada. He got a shipping company to do it and ordered them to dump all the garbage on Canadian water if Canada won’t receive them. Lo and behold, suddenly Canada commissioned a company to take the garbage back but said they could only do it end of June. Duterte doesn’t care so he sent the garbage back May 31st and now it’s on its way there now.

Anyway, Malaysia is also sending back Canadian trash after Duterte did it.

PS: The Canadian company who sent the garbage to the Philippines went bankrupt and the Canadian government said there’s nothing they can do to prosecute it. Rumour is that it only declared bankruptcy so the Canadian government can’t go after it for doing illegal shit.
