Can slavs understand each other without translate?

When a Russian says that he understands the Ukrainians, he means the Russian-Ukrainian dialect of the Eastern part of Ukraine. Real Ukrainian (from the western regions, especially the Carpathians) is mutually incomprehensible to Russian completely. russian and ukrainian are close but they have they linguistic specification,indeed ukrainian is nearer of polish than russian,or how to date an ukrainina girl when you are a westener who belongs of the romance group,meaning speaking french,english and more near of italian,spanish,portuguese etc, for romanian it's a romance language but it's a little more with slavic influences but it's quite understable

another thing i have watch two scandinavian tv series with subtitles it's seems than danish is nearer of english than swedish with a tiny influence of german,i want mean the sentences construction fit more than in swedish, like dutch ,swedish is more elleptic,but it's very sad than slavic are prisonner of this slavic thing they are not very open on the western languages, i hope than the level of english of the young generation is better than the previous generation

I think you can go as far as to saying that Ukraine is an artificial country. Which is true for any other country as well. Big part of Ukraine's land was added only recently after the WW2 (Thanks to Stalin). The modern Greek language is extremely different to ancient Greek language. Ι guess the modern Greek language is artificial language for you as well?
