    In Japanese, "ikizukuri" means "prepared alive." Chefs prepare sashimi from live animals. In traditional ikizukuri, diners select the animal they'd like to eat from restaurant fish tanks. The chef catches it, quickly removes any inedible parts, then serves it then and there.
