They aren't impressive considering their huge population. My country blows them out of water, in 30 years of indipendence World Cup Silver and Bronze with 4 million population.

Nope, Montenegro has less than 1M people and Serbia has 7M.
In basketball Lithuania is similary sucessfull as Serbia but with much smaller population (3M).

Europeans - Throwing (Javelin - Nordic areas although world record held by a Czech) & more influence in technically orientated field events such as high jump (two great Swedish high jumpers being Patrik Sjöberg and Stefan Holm, the second of which holds the tied highest height cleared over ones head!) Discus, hammer & shot - more general European however most influence from Eastern Europe/ Russia
