    Default Does this sound familiar? Name of the movie?

    I can't get a particular scene out of my mind and I wonder which kino is this from. I recall the opening scene:

    * A 2000-something, or late 1990s-to-2000s movie.
    * Action science fiction
    * Mid to high budget blockbuster, maybe even a wacky crappy B-movie, no idea.

    *Fade in: Nighttime, ruined city (nyc?), no electricity; street, derelict factory/office building; one of the worn out parked cars is a cop car
    * A flying car parks in the street, in proximity to the cop car and (human) space marines leave the vehicle to explore the factory
    * Something something spooky noises happen and they get eaten alive
    Does this sound familiar at all?

    I think it also has a time loop subplot with the space marine guys attempting to time-reverse the disaster or some retarded shit like that but idk.

    Dawg,
    I went through the entire list like the retard with no social life that I am and this one seems to be the closest match:
    Time Runner (1993)

    There's lots to love about the cast in this low-budget time-travel escapade: Mark Hamill joins Commando's Ray Dawn Chong and the late, great character actor Brion James. Unfortunately, the derivative plot fails to do anything much with them; following an alien invasion in the 21st century, Hamill's fighter pilot is sent back in time to the 1990s in the hope of warning humanity about the inbound threat. A considerable amount of budget-conscious shooting and driving ensues.
    Looked up the movie trailer on YT and the cars in the scenes look way too ancient to fit the descrption. Had to be an early 2000s movie then.

    I asked about this on every site that I visit and no luck so far. Someone also suggested it is Jet Li's The One although it does not fit the description at all lol.

    I am certain it was not "quirky n fun™ cult film" tier i.e. Johnny Mnemomic (1995), Strange Days (1995), Tank Girl (1995) but more on the "soulless dumb blockbuster" end of the spectrum.

    Either way ty for the list, homie, 👍👍👍 I am gonna check out these two later:

    Hardware (1990)
    [Hardware's] story, about a military robot putting itself back together and menacing a post-apocalyptic ghetto, is a familiar one, but Stanley gives it real verve - Hardware has a stylish, artistic edge that most low-budget genre films of the period sorely lacked.

    Screamers (1995)
    One of the more obscure attempts to bring a Philip K Dick story to the screen[;] future soldier on a planet overrun by a race of artificially intelligent robots; the more evolved versions of the Screamers are capable of impersonating humans. That added layer of paranoia turns Screamers from a decent cult film into something even more compelling.

    I can't remember such movie, you said that the space marines were eaten alive? By what?

    P.S.
    Screamers is a classic of sci-fi (there is also a sequel but not very good). Also Hardware it's good.

    Check out also sci-fi movies like Starship Troopers, Wing Commander, and Equilibrium.
    Non Auro, Sed Ferro, Recuperanda Est Patria (Not by Gold, But by Iron, Is the Nation to be Recovered) - Marcus Furius Camillus (Roman General)

    By whatever turned a relatively habitable city into a not-so-habitable city? Oversized CGI bugs or whatever. There had to be a PG-13-esque cut-to-black screaming-not-seeing-anything because otherwise I would remember.

    See, I have this feeling that the postapocalyptic street scene was followed by the obligatory "before the apocalypse" scene featuring the same street and the same cop car but in a pristine clean condition. This is why I suspect it has to be some dopey time loop action thriller after all (but not Jet Li's The One lol).
