I know very few who speak highly of communism especially during the 80s. I know the USSR was crumbling and people were starving.

You can be communist but you need a capitalistic economy. China is a good example. Until Russia produces quality domestic products and vehicles and they are in demand in the west Russia will never be a economic power like the U.S. and China.
