Default Alternative History of the Americas

The Treaty of Fontainebleau (1763) resulted in France ceding Louisiana to Spain. On paper, it would dictate British control of "basically" everything east of the Mississippi and Spanish control west of it. Yes, there are nuances. What if Louisiana's history and all of New Spain's history had a greater foothold in the western united states, and American expansion going westward were more halted? What kind of nations could have arisen realistically? Would Canada go as far west as well? Could the Hudson bay company have dealings in western canada have broken away, consolidated and become a separate entity or part of another entity? What about the other Spanish colonies west of Louisiana and Texas area? Would Spain in a haste centralize their colonies more in North America as to prevent potential independence movements, potentially inspired by the colonials under the British Crown along the Atlantic and just west?

Fun little excercise; let's pretend the history of the Americas played out the same up until, for convenience sake, 1763.

What about Central and South America? Would Mexico just be larger, creeping further north (as it indeed did for some time) and potentially further south? Would it be known as the Russia of the Latin American world (haha...being a little fanciful and silly there...)

    Go!

Bump. In addition, what are other scenarios if history "splintered off" during a different time period? Also, what if things developed normally until the aftermath of the civil war? What nations might have emerged with an emotionally/financially taxed U.S., and a U.S.A. and C.S.A. both remaining? Would the great lakes region get wound up in the "spirit of independence" and declare an independent nation of business minded oligarchs with a capital in Chicago? There's one fanciful example I just thought of.

Not to mention all the stuff in the west. Mexico gaining more land? Texas? How bout an Oregon Republic?
