Millions of tourist leave Cancun and Playa del carmen to visit Chichen Itza ,Tulum,Cenotes etc. Mexico has way more to offer than Dominican Republic or any latin american country

Mexico's biggest problem is police / army with heavy weapons in the midst of civilians:
In Brazil, one only sees this in Rio de Janeiro-capital.

Acapulco is the best case study for Mexico. DR certainly has a lot of corruption but the brutality and insane violence is not present in DR.

Exactly, DR isn't heaven on Earth, it has its flaws, but Mexicans, tend to be more cold when it comes to doing brutal crimes, and crazy ass violence. In DR just have to make sure you dont show too much "bling" in public areas to avoid getting mugged, in Mexico in the other hand out of no where you might get an AK 47 on your ass by a Narco, kidnap you knowing you come from the states or Europe, and get some money out of your family, and if you're lucky enough not get chopped up into pieces.
It was an isolated event, a Venezuelan narco who seemed to have a crush on that hot chick, order someone to kill the dude.

Narco's don't waste their time with regular people. Only people or relatives involved in the drug trade get kidnapped and killed by them .You don't know what you are talking about.
Narco's don't target tourist .Narco's know not to fuck with tourist because tourist bring $$$ to Mexico.
