Default $118,000 In Student Debt... For USELESS Drama Degree!

Student Debt is a huge problem in the United States. But, so are the students taking on debt that they will never be able to repay.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

    Not useless.

Very good for trolls and Drama queens of the Apricity to excel at what they do.

I would assume that someone wouldn't take on that sort of burden if they weren't able to handle it financially. They must be upper-middle class or rich. I.e. a working class person might get a computer programming or Graphic Design degree from a community or public college. I would imagine that, barring an extraordinary talent, a working class person would know that a career in theater simply wouldn't be in the dictionary for them.

For them: a tragedy. For the rest of mankind: comedy.

Is a university degree required in the West to work as a programmer? Why waste time and money on it, programming is not medicine or the defense industry, there will be enough innate abilities and self-education. For an employer, this diploma means nothing, only skills are important.
Higher education for a programmer is only a way (potential) to establish useful contacts.

In USA, nope. I have no info about other western countries.
Our 2016 Developer Survey found that 56% of developers in fact do not have a college degree in computer science or related fields.

Maybe I was thinking more along the lines of software engineering? Anyway, at a community college, courses are more practical and way cheaper. The point was, I just don't think someone would pay tuition for a Drama degree if they didn't have the means.

I thought software engineering and programming were the same thing.
