    Default Intro + classification.

    Hello, everyone.
This seems like an interesting little community you have and I can't wait to become a part of it. I just wanted to introduce myself quickly.. I'm 29, live in the U.S., and I am an artist. I look forward to getting acquainted with you all. I am curious what you all would ''categorize'' me as phenotypically.. I was adopted and have unknown heritage. I'm thinking about taking a DNA test soon, but out of curiosity I thought I would ask here. Thanks, everyone.
[this is my natural hair color, and my skin is very pale, if that helps].

Welcome to the forum. I'd echo what TheMaestro said above and go for either 23andme or Ancestry - both currently still have sales on their kits, although those sales end today, just FYI. And as for a classification, I'd say probably North Atlantid + Alpine.

Hi, and thanks for the response! I was thinking 23andme as well, because as an adoptee I would really love some health info.
I am familiar with what North Atlantid means, but I'm unfamiliar with Alpine.. I'll have to look into that. Thanks again!

Ah, yea.. I have heard that myHeritage is not reliable at all. I see you've done FTDNA.. what do you think about that?

That's a good idea. 23andme is the better autosomal DNA testing service overall I'd say, but Ancestry has better raw data (which is useful for things like GEDMatch and so on). Alpine is generally a broad classification, typically characterised by a short or medium stature, (typically) brown hair and brown or mixed eyes, and a brachycephalic skull shape. There's some more information here if you are interested.

No worries. If you do decide to get tested, please post your results here - it's always interesting to see people's ethnicity estimates.

Ive done myHeritage and uploaded data on FTDNA.As I said you need to go for 23andMe or ancestryDNA, those are most reliable and those are what you get the most out of them.
