My first supposed genealogical ancestor goes back to 1240, but the first genealogic ancestor that is more than just a name/date/birthplace was one of his descendants, my 11th Great Grandfather George Bower of Ashover, Derbyshire, born in 1605, died 1679, at Goss Hall, the family house. Husband of Isabell Townrowe, my 11th Great Grandmother.

    His will

His house as it stands, heritage listed

I'm aware of that. Just wanted to know if you know all 16/17 couples of that particular twig to him, or if there is broken lineage somewhere. I have 4 twigs with man + spouse birth / wedding and death dates to the 9th generation. So i know the lineages to 8 veryfied ancestors born ~1650 -1720. From there it's getting incomplete. I have 3 more 10th generation birthdates of the man, but without the spouse. And some loose mentions of the particular reports, entries in tax lists and village registers of the farmers from 2 different familie sides 1548, 1486 and 1339. The mentions of these farms themselves go back to 900.

Louis IV, The Fat King of France is my 24th great grandfather.

I am officially absolved from losing weight. Double chins have been in the family for 1000 years. Who am I to break with tradition?

I don't usually trust to much those parts of the tree that goes so far away in time but for fun:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berig

i found the goths to be very interesting, it's a shame that they were quite mysterious compared to other germanic tribes.

If i remember well the Ostrogoths of the Amal dinasty traced back their ancestry to Berig the same some for some Visigothic kings of Hispania with that being the moment were the Balth dinasty stopped ruling the kingdom.

"The Visigoths as a nation were formed under the rule of Alaric I, the first named Balt, only in 395.[5] He famously sacked Rome in 410. His descendants continued to rule down to 531, when on the death of Amalaric the line went extinct. In 507, the Visigoths were defeated by the Franks at the Battle of Vouillé and lost most of their kingdom. In 511, the Ostrogothic king Theoderic the Great intervened to depose the Balt king Gesalec. He ruled himself until his death in 526, when Amalaric succeeded him. Theoderic's intervention is often credited with saving the Visigothic kingdom, but it ended the Balt dynasty."[3]

And going back further in his ancestral line.

We better behave because Loki might end up killing us again.

I'm just thinking, if we are both directly related to Cerdic, then you and I are directly related too? Am I right?
