Now now, don't get carried away, lest we err in hast. Roman borrowed many metallurgical techniques and armour from the Celts who were Northern Europeans in ancestry. Germanic peoples developed interesting tech like pattern welded swords a 1000 years before the Japanese. Vandal Period Helmets look badass and the North Germanic peoples invented many new innovation in shipbuilding. Their ships, although smaller than Roman cargo vessels, where more water tight and had better draft

    Northern Europe by far

Both shores are now completely different worlds thanks to Islam/Christianity and even in terms of looks it's quite easy to distinguished a european from a levantine or north african. Mediterraneanists are disconnected from reality not even under the roman empire such feeling existed (even north africans like st augustine for example faced racism and were viewed as foreigner)

Romans discriminated against non Latin descend nobility forigners (Patricians) and even sometimes even Greeks (look at Cato's writing about 'oriental' influences from Greeks). Modern notions of 'racism' or white vs non-whites did not exist then although they talks about the physical differences between peoples (Tacitus for example). Roman Era samples were heavily Levantine, I think a extremely Baltic and ladogan East Slav would stick by far in St Augustine Rome than an Romano-Numidian

Attalus of Pergamon commissioned that art. Pergamon was Hellenic state in west central Anatolia, before the Roman conquest of the Seleucids.

Spaniards/Portuguese, especially northern, have a lot similarities with Celtic people.
Northern Italians are culturally very similar to Swiss, Austrian and French people. Central Italy is most ''Italian'' part of this country.
Croatians and Slovenians are very similar to Austrians and Dalmatian Croatians are very similar to Italians.
Maltese people have big English influence, linguistically and historically.

Only exceptions are the Greeks, Albanians and to some extent Sicilians and southern Italians.

Especially Greeks and Albanians are similar to the Turks, Levantines, Georgians, Armenians etc.

How are Greeks and Albanians similar to Turks, Armenians and Georgians?
Even if Turks, Armenians and Georgians are very different.
