In accordance with Septentrion.. English pop-rock singers dye their hair..

George Harrison was blonde..a really typical english blonde..
Maps like this one are useless and retarded.
They obviously count not only blond hair but for sure light and even medium brown hair for Northern Europe, too.
For the south it seems to me that the criterion is even more obscure - it doesn't seem to count medium brown anywhere in Southern Europe though.
Here is my statistics for 282 Dutch men I based a survey on:
    Blond – 67 (23,76%)
    Reddish blond – 3 (1,06%)
    Reddish brown – 3 (1,06%)
    Red – 2 (0,71%)
    Black – 5 (1,77%)
    Light brown – 33 (11,7%)
    Medium brown – 91 (32,28%)
    Medium ash brown – 24 (8,51%)
    Dark brown – 43 (15,25%)
    Dark ash brown – 11 (3,9%)
Total blondism rate: 24,82% (70 individuals)
Total rufosity rate: 2,83% (8 individuals)
Total brown hair frequency: 72,7% (205 people)
Medium brown shades percentage (including the ashy tones): 40,79% (115 men)
Dark brown shades (including ashy nuances): 19,15% (54 men)
Dark hair (dark brown shades + black): 20,92% (59 individuals)

Thanks a lot! Certainly useful and (at least) a large part of it gets included in my survey.

Scientific studies on dark hair on Scandinavia are very close to what this maps shows. (it's from ToeKNeeHwin's numbers). However numbers for Slovenia and Austria are way off. Austrians aren't twice as blond as Slovenians.

I'm not commenting the actual dark (dark brown + black) hair percentage but the formulation for ''light hair'' which obviously counts everything up to medium brown as light for Northern/NW/NE Europe but definitely excludes it for the south. It even seems to exclude light brown and maybe some blond nuances for certain areas.
In no way are 96% of Greeks just dark brown- and black-haired. Serbian, Bulgarian, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Bosnian, Croat, Hungarian and Slovenian results are also significantly lowered.

Yes, I'd say English women are as a whole lighter-haired ( ginger/blonde/light to medium brown) than their male counterparts. However, they aren't lighter-eyed.

If you listen to Grace O'Malley. You will have results closer to professional studies.

Your English dark hair total of around 30% is reasonable and similar to some of my result. About 70% of the English are light-haired ( from the lightest red through blonde to the light or medium shades of brown).

Again, depends on whose studies you mean. Authors you quote apparently have very different criteria among themselves.
