European country with the most beautiful architecture?

I almost voted for Austria but then remembered that its strength is in Baroque which lacks the spiritual punch of Gothic. France was practically the starting point for most great movements; German architecture is essentially a spillover from France. Potsdam is an imitation of Versailles. The one Gothic cathedral actually finished in the middle ages (Strasburg) is on the French side of the Rhine. I also picked Spain for the reasons pictured upthread.

Yep these three countries by the way are very diverse (maybe less Spain but France and Italy have all the type of landscapes that you could imagine).

Not sure if with landscapes you refer to architecture or just nature but in both cases Spain is by far infinitely more diverse than France or Italy.

I will give to Italy a little advantage, since this is a country covered by churches, palaces, towers, ancient Roman remnants, cities that have still all their medieval walls...

All that also happens in Spain (ancient Roman buildings included), so you can remove that little advantage which you talk.

Also In Italy ( Campania and Sicily ) there are some traditional-folk songs that sound "arabic"..To deny arabic/islamic influence is not possible..Islamic culture was avdanced during middle age ( But not superior to Italian mainland "culture" )

I mean, I like the Romanesque architecture and all but they're pretty overrated for me. These houses screams Germanic for me.
