Any parts in mind in particular?

Just curious, I do think we have lots of beautiful buildings here, but a lot of them in the major cities have been somewhat obscured by more recent developments in city life - compared to the more 'unspoiled' eastern european cities as featured above - I had the impression most thought of our cities as rather ugly .

I almost voted for Austria but then remembered that its strength is in Baroque which lacks the spiritual punch of Gothic. France was practically the starting point for most great movements; German architecture is essentially a spillover from France. Potsdam is an imitation of Versailles. The one Gothic cathedral actually finished in the middle ages (Strasburg) is on the French side of the Rhine. I also picked Spain for the reasons pictured upthread.

Norwich actually is quite nice, it's not often you see it mentioned so I would say it's quite underrated really.
Edinburgh is famousley nice, I forgot about that one .

It's just that you don't often see UK places on the most beautiful European cities lists often. Usually eastern Europe features heavily. I suppose I just think of our big cities - Birmingham, Glasgow, London - which are not so hot (even when they're not on fire ) ; they do have pretty buildings, but they also have too many ugly ones, and general crowdedness. That is probably true of all big cities, though. We also don't often get mentions for the 'wow factor' buildings some places have like Koln Cathedral, Notre Dame, Sagrada Familia and the like.
But I think we are underrated there too - places like Lincoln Cathedral (tallest building in the world for 250 years!)


or even Durham:


are every bit as good, I think .

You also didn't mention what I think is the best town in the UK - Bath .
no real 'wow factor' spectacular buildings from a skyline level, but very harmonious architecture and landscape all throughout the city .
