I've often felt that Brittany had a few people who stand out as especially swarthy (including darker skin) compared with other Northern French regions and even compared to Central France. If real, where does it come from? My initial guess was that Cornish and Welsh refugees imported this look when they fled from the Saxon invasions. The Romans noticed that the Welsh were significantly darker than continental Celts and thought that they were descended from Iberians.
Examples of swarthy Bretons:
Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves le Drian.
