Hey guys,
I've live in both Mexico and Peru and I was curious how Spain was similar or different from them. From what I heard Spain has a European culture while Mexico and Peru have a mixture of Amerindian, Mestizo, African and Asian influences but is hard to discern which one is which.
Some questions that come to mind:
-Is there a lot of classism/segregation in Spain? Where the rich feel better than others and one mix with the average Spaniard?
-Is it acceptable for someone wealthy(a pijo) to live off their parents and have party lifestyle?
-Are pijos more lighters skin than the average spaniard? Maybe more Germanic?
-Is Spain a masculine country where people first fight a lot? I noticed in Mexico a lot of people who had been on fist fights.
-Do Spaniards use the term, "Acomplejado" a lot? I noticed that they use this in Peru excessively.
-Are Spaniard always saying one needs to have 'humildad' each time they lose or win a football game. I've seen every single Latin American country do this.
-Do Spaniards live with their parents until they are much older and then move in their 30s?
-How collectivist are Spaniards compared to Mexicans and Peruvians? Do they have bonds with their grandparents?
-Do Spaniards highly value education and see it as their way out of poverty? I noticed Argentinians do this a lot where they put a high value on education but I've seen it in Peru and Mexico to an extend.
-Do Spaniards give poor customer service and are rude.
-Do wealthy Spaniards go on a tantrum if things go poorly for them and will berate people telling you are "You don't know who you are messing with..etc"
-Is it acceptable for a Spaniard to have multiple women on the side while he is married. While his wife will "look the other way." I noticed in Japan this acceptable to an extend.
-Is it acceptable for a Spanish dad to show up drunk at night and try to start a fight with his wife? And then everybody forgets about it in the morning. I've heard stories like this from my friends in Colombia, Mexico, Peru..etc.
-If neither Japan(Hikkikomori) nor Spain(LGBT friendly) is a masculine country then why is Peru, Bolivia and Mexico have so many masculine values? I know its changing lately. However, when I went to school my school was similar to Vargas Llosa books. Where honor, fighting, respect where paramount value
