I've seen so many Romanian results on 23andMe and no one had more than 6% Italian. For me is related to my Greek ancestry, I guess. So many Greeks on 23andMe score high amounts of Italian, up to 25%.

Greeks were not latins, and 5% italian admixture is not significant. Many hungarian has 5% siberian or central asian genetic but modern and old hungarian population are totally different.

No. Italian admixture in Romanians is small as a percentage but widespread and well conserved. There are many Romanians who score more than 10% and have no knowledge of any Italian ancestry, an obvious sign that this an old admixture.

Also, the eastern part of the Roman empire was dominated by Greeks. Greeks considered themselves and called themselves Romans (Romaioi) for almost 2000 years (until 1800), just like Romanians did and still do (Român). The whole Balkans used to be called colloquially Romania (!!) by the Byzantines, even the regions that were not formally part of the empire. The Turks called Greeks Rum (meaning Roman) and the region Rumelia (Romania haha).

So yeah, Italian and Greek admixture is consistently found among Romanians and it's part of the Roman heritage. It is the reason why you see so many true Meds (not just Pontids) so up North in Eastern Europe.

I think Csanad parents came from Romania, or have very recent ancestry in Romania. That can explain it, Romanian Szekelys have mixed with Romanians in medieval times.
