This is how endogamous ethnic ghettoes are formed, this increases ethnic polarization and segregation within a society.
The levels of social cohesion and solidarity in such divided societies are lower. This is not like American-style "melting pot".
Ethnic nepotism is a problem too (e.g. Pakistanis in Britain feel closer to each other than to Brits of other ethnicities, etc.).
Generally such societies fall apart eventually, tensions and conflicts increase over time. This is what we see in the West.

Why? We can have the best of both worlds. For example, my country received chinese males for the most part. I think it would be a good idea for host countries to also focus on gender at the time of choosing possible immigrants. Depending on the place of origin, females could be more benefitial than men or vice versa.
