Opinions on Orthodox Albanians of North Macedonia?

However even the claim that he was Greek is a bit controversial. I prefer "Hellene" since western scholars cant be so sure the Ancient Macedonians were distinct enough to warrant their own classification or if he was part of the wider greek ethos. He called himself macedonian though so lets just leave it at that

Pashko vasa was right when he said "the religion of the albanian is albania" , religion tends to divide people, although as aspar said the one that stayed orthodox wer sadly the ones that would get assimilated easier. Catholics in italy got assimilated, muslims in turkey assimilated but the fact that albania proper was surrounded by christian nations mad the muslims there unlikely to interrmarry and get absorbed.This changed ofc during Hoxha

I would personally say that Bektashis were Quite nationalist too,Naim Frasheri, Ali pasha tepelena and even Hoxha (initially)

There isn't many of them around. I've never met any myself. But for the ones that exist, i'd say it's a good thing.

Where would you find them? I've heard they do not befriend Kangaroos or Australopitheki...

From what ive read theres around 75 k around of them today,including upper and even lower reka(mijacija)villages around gostivar,villages around krusevo and bitola, bitola propper, migrants to skopje and 2 villages in kavadari mrezicko and konopiste, however i doubt most of these would see themselves as albanian

I admire them although what helped for the Albanian people and language be preserved was that they switched to Catholic and Muslim faith.

Had they remained Orthodox, the majority of the Albanians today would have been absorbed by the Greeks and the Serbs, much what happened to Makedonishtanis as many had been absorbed by the Bulgarians and the Greeks.

So you can look on it as a pact with the Devil but a necessary one in order for the Albanian nation to survive.

I've got news for you. Those Orthodox Albanians view themselves as Makedonishtanis, not as Greeks.

The Republic of Mirdita(Republika e Mirditës) was a short-lived unrecognized republic declared in northern Albania by Marka Gjoni and his followers. It existed between 17 July and 20 November 1921. Gjoni led his Roman CatholicMirdita tribesmen in a rebellion against the Albanian regency and parliament established after the World War I. The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia), and its newly enthroned King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic backed Gjoni based on its interest of having another separatist region within Albania, weakening the newly created Albanian state and sharpening the religious antagonism.
Gjoni proclaimed in Prizren the founding of an independent Republic of Mirdita. Gjoni was the only president of the republic. As the republic violated the sovereignty of the Albanian state, Albanian government troops fought and eventually extinguished the republic. The putative government of the republic was overrun by the Albanian government, though no real persecution fell on the main leaders.
